📋 Description

• Design and build scalable dimensional models using dbt and BigQuery • Translate ambiguous business questions into dimensions, facts, and grain decisions • Balance normalization, performance, and usability, and document design decisions • Reduce technical debt in the dbt project through model layering, naming and testing standards, macro reuse, and incremental strategies • Define model correctness and implement data quality monitoring and checks • Improve alerting and triage processes to catch data issues proactively • Lead root-cause investigations into pipeline data discrepancies • Partner with Data Engineering and product engineering teams on upstream contracts and instrumentation quality • Support technical definitions of core business measurements and drive stakeholder alignment • Partner with Data Analysts and BI to enable self-service analysis • Translate business needs into technical requirements and prioritize work • Contribute through code review, design review, and documentation • Serve as a trusted builder, architect, and consultant for analytics data

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or related roles • Deep data modeling expertise, including dimensional models, grain, SCD types, and fact table design tradeoffs • Experience handling conforming dimensions, many-to-many relationships, late-arriving and restated data, and evolving source systems • Experience building testing and monitoring into data pipelines • Experience defining SLAs or expectations with data owners and managing on-call/triage processes • Production dbt experience, including model materialization strategies, testing, and macros • 2+ years of experience with BI tools; Looker preferred • Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder influence skills • Strong problem decomposition and ability to align requests with a modeling roadmap and architecture • Finance or financial services data experience is a bonus • Experience with BigQuery, dbt Cloud, Looker, Amplitude, or DeepNote is a bonus • Experience with data governance, lineage, or catalog tooling is a bonus • Familiarity with Agile processes and sprint cycles is a bonus • Mobile app or product analytics experience is a bonus
