• Work with the hardware design team to influence design producibility • Perform producibility assessments and lead Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) engagements to reduce design cost • Use CAD tools such as DFM-Pro to analyze and optimize designs • Track DFMA engagements by discipline and review completeness and applicability • Manage product cost reduction initiatives toward a product cost target • Perform and review one-dimensional tolerance analyses • Assess supplier capability and readiness and provide support for contractual deliveries • Engage program design teams, communicate analysis results, and negotiate design modifications • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Processes, Design and Drafting, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and suppliers • Travel occasionally for supplier activities and collaboration with department/directorate peers
• University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience • Experience with detailed knowledge of one or more manufacturing processes, such as machining, casting, welding, forging, injection molding, etc. • Experience with Design for Manufacturing and/or Assembly workshops • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance • U.S. citizenship required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance • Active and existing DoD Secret security clearance required after day 1 • Preferred: Certified Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) Lead • Preferred: Raytheon CORE apprentice certification or equivalent external process improvement certification, such as Six Sigma, Lean, TPS, or DFSS • Preferred: ASME Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Professional Certification • Experience performing two- or three-dimensional tolerance analyses • Exposure to or basic understanding of multiple standard manufacturing processes, including multi-axis machining, sheet metal fabrication, casting, 3-D printing, welding, precision mechanical assembly, and mechanical inspection
