📋 Description

• Take ownership of technically complex, mission-critical areas • Define and drive technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities • Design and ship full-stack features across backend, frontend, and potentially mobile • Partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate ambiguous problems into technical plans and measurable outcomes • Build and scale systems behind AI-driven products, including data ingestion, APIs, and operator workflows • Raise engineering standards through code reviews, design reviews, technical mentorship, and quality and velocity practices • Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles as the company scales • Participate in customer interviews and collaborate with product managers and customer success to build products for physical operations

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience • 8+ years of experience in software design and development, including building and operating production systems at scale • Strong full-stack fundamentals across backend services, APIs, and frontend web or mobile • Proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, or similar languages and frameworks • Experience leading cross-team or cross-org projects from inception through rollout • Experience building AI-powered or data-driven products • Strong communication skills and ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders • Track record of building zero-to-one products or significantly improving systems • Experience shipping AI-powered features in production is ideal • Comfort with AI-augmented development workflows such as Cursor and LLMs is ideal • Background with operational data such as telematics, sensor data, work orders, or inspections is ideal • Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing engineering culture is ideal • Side projects or open-source contributions are ideal
