📋 Description

• Design backbone and PoP architecture as standardized, repeatable building blocks • Drive adoption of Segment Routing and a clean IP architecture covering IPv4 reuse, IPv6, and customer/internal address-space coexistence • Build and operate disaggregated white-box networking using Edgecore hardware and IP Infusion OcNOS • Develop network-as-code operations using Nautobot, Jinja, CI/CD, validation, staged rollouts and rollback • Build telemetry and observability for network operations • Apply AI to anomaly detection, automated triage and human-in-the-loop auto-remediation • Own network availability, failure mitigation, incident diagnosis and post-mortem improvements • Collaborate with the software team on the customer API and provisioning layer • Collaborate with partner ISP engineers on network hand-offs • Help hire and develop the network engineering team • Own network architecture across BGP edge, backbone, PoPs and data centers across Africa

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years building and operating large networks at a hyperscaler, CDN, internet exchange, carrier or ISP • Deep BGP at scale, including route policy, communities, RPKI, traffic engineering, peering and transit • Strong data center and backbone design experience • Knowledge of Clos/EVPN-VXLAN fabrics and MPLS or Segment Routing • Hands-on experience with white-box or disaggregated networking • Experience choosing hardware and understanding silicon limitations • Ability to write network automation in Python or similar • Experience building or running CI/CD pipelines, source-of-truth systems and telemetry • Experience owning availability for critical production systems and analyzing real incidents • Experience building with AI tools for network operations • Clear, direct communication with partners' engineers and founders • Nice to have: internet exchange or large-scale peering experience • Nice to have: SONiC, OcNOS, FRR or contributions to open networking stacks • Nice to have: streaming telemetry using gNMI/gRPC or sFlow • Nice to have: 400G/800G and optical ZR deployments, vendor selection and certification • Nice to have: GPON/XGS-PON, MikroTik or Huawei equipment • Nice to have: network-building experience in Africa or Latin America • Nice to have: DDoS mitigation at the edge
