📋 Description

• Design and build scalable back-end services for Smartsheet's next-generation applications • Solve complex distributed systems challenges with product management and key stakeholders • Build, maintain, and scale Smartsheet's core infrastructure for reliability, stability, and performance • Manage and upgrade large-scale database infrastructure and complex replication topologies • Automate core operations using AWS, Golang, MySQL, Terraform, Temporal, and GitLab-CI • Collaborate through mob programming, collective code ownership, code reviews, and architectural discussions • Use Test-Driven Development to build resilient foundational systems • Participate in team book clubs and psychologically safe retrospectives • Use AI tools across coding, testing, design, and troubleshooting; explore integrations and coach others • Participate in a gradually ramped operational on-call rotation

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of experience and proficiency in at least one modern programming language • Go experience is a plus but not required; Java, Kotlin or Python backgrounds translate well • 3+ years of experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform • Understanding of database internals and reliability, especially MySQL • 8+ years of software development experience building highly scalable, highly available applications • Experience developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs • Comfortable or willing to become comfortable working in a mob programming environment • Experience writing test-driven code and sharing system ownership • Critical thinking and troubleshooting of complex technical problems • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • 1+ year of professional experience leveraging AI to improve personal productivity in building complex SaaS feature sets • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical industry experience • Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis
