📋 Description

• Develop software solutions supporting applied R&D programs for DoD, U.S. Government customers, commercial clients, and internal research efforts • Contribute to rapid prototyping, proof-of-concept development, research software, data collection and analysis, user interfaces, web applications, and robust production software • Collaborate with team members to clarify evolving requirements, identify appropriate solutions, and seek guidance when needed • Apply software engineering practices throughout design, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, version control, and code review • Integrate software with sensors, instrumentation, commercial components, and other hardware systems as program needs require • Participate in occasional customer meetings, demonstrations, field testing, and other program activities • Work with local and remote engineers across SRI’s technology domains

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field • New graduates and early-career candidates are encouraged to apply • Must be a US Citizen • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance • Strong software engineering and computer science fundamentals, including software design, data structures, algorithms, debugging, and testing • Familiarity with Git and version control, automated testing, continuous integration/deployment, APIs, containers, Linux, and cloud development environments • Experience with two or more general-purpose programming languages is highly desirable • Experience integrating software with sensors, instrumentation, embedded systems, or other hardware is highly desirable for some current program needs • Experience using AI-assisted and agentic software development tools is desirable • Ability and willingness to learn new languages, technologies, frameworks, and development environments • Strong communication and teamwork skills • Ability to work effectively with evolving requirements and across exploratory, demonstration, and production-oriented projects • Ability to travel occasionally for customer meetings, demonstrations, field testing, and other program activities
