📋 Description

• Lead the design and delivery of complex, cross-team technical initiatives with platform-wide impact • Set technical direction and establish engineering standards across multiple teams • Lead architecture and design reviews for scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions • Partner with engineering leadership, product management, and technical leaders to translate business goals into technical strategy • Drive adoption of AI-assisted and agentic software development practices with quality, security, and maintainability guardrails • Evaluate and adopt technologies, frameworks, and tools that improve developer productivity and system quality • Write and review production-quality code while remaining hands-on with the codebase • Participate in incident response and own root cause analysis, systemic remediation, and durable improvements • Identify and resolve systemic scalability, performance, and security risks • Mentor and coach engineers across the engineering organization

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience • Substantial experience with Ruby on Rails and a modern JavaScript framework • Proven track record of growth and technical leadership • Ability to design and build high-quality, high-performance, highly available web applications and distributed systems at scale • Deep expertise in service-oriented architectures, event-driven systems, and web application design • Experience designing and implementing automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies • Hands-on experience with AI tools and workflows such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot • Practical experience with security and CI/CD best practices • Experience deploying, monitoring, and operating applications in AWS, GCP, or Heroku • Experience with automated deployment pipelines and observability tooling such as OpenTelemetry, Honeycomb, or Datadog • Strong track record of mentoring and elevating other engineers • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence technical decisions across teams without direct authority • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent industry experience • Additional qualifications: accounting or financial software experience; familiarity with law firms, legal practice, law firm billing and accounting; familiarity with Ember.js; technical leadership without formal people management responsibility
