📋 Description

• Own the technical direction for a significant AI-native domain, such as agent architecture, platform abstractions, or evaluation and guardrail infrastructure • Act as tech lead for a squad or cross-team initiative, decomposing ambiguous problems, sequencing delivery, clearing blockers, and focusing the team on outcomes • Write and review design documents and make and document architectural decisions • Establish clear technical ownership and prevent reviews from stalling • Design and build production AI agents using retrieval, orchestration, policy-based routing, tool invocation, evaluation harnesses, and lifecycle observability • Set and enforce standards for production-ready agents, including testability, rollback safety, cost ceilings, failure modes, and human-in-the-loop boundaries • Build and extend AI platform abstraction layers, shared libraries, patterns, and guardrails • Translate privacy, security, and compliance constraints for sensitive healthcare data into concrete architecture • Own full-stack delivery in TypeScript/Node.js and Python across service/API layers, data-processing jobs, and internal interfaces • Leverage cloud infrastructure, event-driven patterns, CI/CD, and observability to deliver scalable AI-native systems • Own deployment, monitoring, production troubleshooting, and on-call responsibilities • Partner with product, operations, clinical operations, and business leaders to define valuable use cases • Lead design sessions, proofs of concept, and build-with sessions to drive trust and adoption • Communicate trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences, including executives • Influence roadmap and prioritization based on technical risk, sequencing, and cost • Own evaluation strategy and metrics for agent accuracy, latency, safety, and cost-effectiveness • Instrument systems for post-deployment visibility and iterate on data, feedback, and changing requirements • Mentor and grow engineers through code review, design review, pairing, and direct feedback • Create reusable patterns, documentation, and best practices • Anchor the internal AI-native and agentic engineering community of practice • Ship a real product within the first 90 days, own a domain within six months, and establish patterns adopted by other teams within the first year

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years building and operating production software • Meaningful full-stack depth across a TypeScript/Node.js backend and at least one other language (Python strongly preferred) • Track record of technical leadership as an individual contributor • Experience designing and deploying agentic systems in production, including retrieval, orchestration, tool/function calling, and evaluation • Ability to take a loosely defined problem to a shipped, measured, agent-powered workflow • Experience using AI development tools as a force multiplier, with judgment about when to trust, verify, or override them • Strong cloud-native engineering fundamentals • Comfort with CI/CD, observability, and running what you build • Fluency with relational data and SQL • Clear written and verbal communication, including design documentation • Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward shipping measurable results • Experience with agent frameworks and multi-agent architectures at production scale (strongly desired) • Experience with model evaluation and guardrail infrastructure (strongly desired) • Experience building platform capabilities consumed by other engineering teams (strongly desired) • Background in workflow automation, forecasting-driven products, or supply-demand matching (strongly desired) • Prior work in a regulated environment such as healthcare/HIPAA or fintech (strongly desired) • Experience mentoring engineers or acting as a formal tech lead (strongly desired) • Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer
