📋 Description

• Lead and manage The Helper Bees' Data Engineering & Analytics team • Report to the Vice President of Business Intelligence • Mentor, guide, and support Data Engineers and Data Analysts/Business Analysts • Design, implement, and maintain data products using Python, SQL, dbt, Airflow, BigQuery, and modern technologies • Own team intake and prioritization, including request triage and Jira scheduling • Establish a dbt-first, governed approach using tested, traceable, automated models • Ensure reliable, on-time delivery and zero manual edits to production data • Lead expansion into predictive and prescriptive analytics • Guide development and responsible deployment of forecasting, recommendation, and clustering/segmentation models • Set strategic team goals aligned with company data objectives • Collaborate with Product, Accounts, Operations, C-suite leaders, external clients, and partners • Design, build, test, and implement features and enhancements • Monitor team performance and development through feedback, code reviews, and training • Produce quality, testable, and maintainable code and set coding standards • Improve deployment, sprint planning, monitoring, incident response, escalation, and workflows • Drive adoption of AI tooling such as Cursor and Claude Code • Facilitate problem-solving and innovation • Debug complex issues across data pipelines and models • Own the data team's contribution to monthly close and scorecard, including accurate client and partner reports and invoices • Surface reporting and invoicing exceptions proactively • Measure and improve delivery reliability, efficiency, productivity, data quality, reporting timeliness, stakeholder satisfaction, scalability, and system optimization • Perform other duties as assigned or necessary

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, or a related data discipline • 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer or in a highly technical data role • 2+ years of direct people-leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and driving team execution • Proven experience crafting, communicating, and promoting strategic direction for a data team • Strong leadership and team management skills • Experience mentoring and developing a high-performing technical team • Ability to lead change management initiatives and influence key stakeholders across functions • Strong data analysis and presentation skills • Experience building and improving data warehouses and modern data pipelines • Extensive SQL and data engineering experience, including ETL/ELT solutions • BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, and Python required • Experience with Tableau, Salesforce data, and Azure/Synapse a plus • PostgreSQL and PowerBI nice-to-have • Experience owning an intake and prioritization process, such as in Jira • Working knowledge of machine learning and data science, including forecasting/time-series methods, recommendation engines, and clustering/segmentation • Familiarity with the Python ecosystem used to build ML models, such as pandas and scikit-learn • Hands-on ML experience and exposure to deploying/monitoring models in production strongly preferred • Familiarity with, or willingness to drive, AI-assisted development and analytics tooling • Experience managing or transitioning work from external consultants/vendors a plus • Experience handling sensitive data responsibly; familiarity with HIPAA/PHI handling strongly preferred • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Must be 18 years of age or older • Demonstrated experience leading complex data initiatives from strategy through delivery, including migrations or platform transitions • Experience delivering or leading predictive/prescriptive analytics or machine-learning models preferred • Reliable internet connection and designated work environment conducive to professional phone calls and sensitive data • Ability to remain at a designated workstation for the duration of the workday • Ability to operate a computer and office productivity machinery • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information • Ability to observe details at close range • Selected candidates may be required to undergo a background check and/or drug screen
