• Report to the Vice President of Business Intelligence • Lead The Helper Bees' Data Engineering and Analytics team • Manage and develop Data Engineers and Data Analysts/Business Analysts • Set the strategic direction, goals, and priorities for the data team • Design, implement, and maintain data products using Python, SQL, dbt, Airflow, BigQuery, and modern technologies • Own, triage, schedule, and transparently communicate the team's work intake and prioritization process in Jira • Move reporting from manual and bespoke SQL to tested, traceable, automated dbt models • Enforce high reliability standards, including on-time delivery and zero manual edits to production data • Guide predictive and prescriptive analytics initiatives, including forecasting, recommendation engines, and clustering/segmentation • Establish validation, monitoring, and governance practices for machine-learning models in a healthcare context • Collaborate with Product, Accounts, Operations, C-suite leaders, external clients, and partners • Review designs, unblock pipelines, debug complex issues, and make technical tradeoff decisions • Foster mentorship, collaboration, continuous learning, and AI-assisted development practices • Set coding standards and review code for quality, scalability, and maintainability • Improve deployment, sprint planning, monitoring, incident response, escalation, and team workflows • Own the data team's contribution to monthly close and scorecard processes, including accurate and timely reports and invoices • Monitor performance metrics covering data quality, reporting timeliness, technical leadership, code quality, problem solving, process improvement, stakeholder satisfaction, scalability, and optimization
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, or a related data discipline • 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer or in a highly technical data role • 2+ years of direct people-leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and driving team execution • Proven experience crafting, communicating, and promoting strategic direction for a data team • Strong leadership, team management, data analysis, and presentation skills • Experience building and improving data warehouses and modern data pipelines • Extensive SQL and data engineering experience, including ETL/ELT solutions • BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, and Python required • Experience with Tableau, Salesforce data, and Azure/Synapse a plus; PostgreSQL and Power BI nice-to-have • Experience owning intake and prioritization processes, such as Jira backlogs • Working knowledge of machine learning and data science, including forecasting/time-series methods, recommendation engines, and clustering/segmentation • Familiarity with the Python ecosystem used for machine learning, such as pandas and scikit-learn • Hands-on ML experience and exposure to deploying/monitoring production models strongly preferred • Ability to lead change management initiatives and influence stakeholders across functions • Experience managing or transitioning work from external consultants/vendors a plus • Experience handling sensitive data responsibly; familiarity with HIPAA/PHI handling strongly preferred • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Must be 18 years of age or older • Demonstrated experience leading complex data initiatives from strategy through delivery, including migrations or platform transitions • Experience delivering or leading predictive/prescriptive analytics or machine-learning models preferred • Reliable internet connection and designated work environment conducive to professional phone calls and sensitive data • Ability to remain at a designated workstation for the duration of the workday • Must be able to operate a computer and office productivity machinery • Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information • Ability to observe details at close range
