📋 Description

• Conduct on-site installation of sophisticated equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure accurate working order • Conduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visits • Provide diagnosis and repair support for customers and other field personnel • Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users, and company personnel • Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnel • Complete and submit field service reports • Provide training to customers and users on system maintenance • Provide feedback to product quality teams • Provide written input to update and correct Thermo Fisher system documentation • Provide guidance for reports, including identifying and isolating outstanding system problems • Act as a subject expert and resource for training • Support customers through electron, ion, and light microscopy hardware, software, and application expertise • Travel up to 75% within the assigned territory and internationally as required

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of hands-on technical experience in electronic systems; a combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of an undergraduate degree • Experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating sophisticated analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems • Detailed understanding and extensive experience diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high-voltage systems, or similar systems • Ability to deal effectively with customers • Excellent interpersonal communication skills • Professional working proficiency in English • Consistent record of fixing sophisticated systems and subsystems down to the component level • Literacy in MS-DOS and Windows software environments • Ability to read and interpret schematics • Familiarity with UHV phenomena and technology • Ability to acquire a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as required • Valid driver’s license • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance • Ability to work in a laboratory setting and office environment • Some degree of PPE required
