📋 Description

• Develop, derive, and refine system and autonomy software requirements for autonomous driving systems • Analyze software-intensive autonomous systems, component interactions, system behavior, performance limitations, and safety risks • Collaborate with SOTIF and functional safety engineers to identify functional insufficiencies and triggering conditions • Evaluate completeness, consistency, and traceability of requirements • Translate analysis findings into requirements, design improvements, and functional modifications with software, AI/ML, and systems engineering teams • Use testing, analytical, and simulation results to develop acceptance criteria, safety metrics, and performance targets • Contribute to risk assessments and safety analyses for autonomous vehicle behavior • Support verification and validation objectives for known and emerging safety scenarios • Incorporate safety considerations into system and autonomy software specifications and design decisions • Develop understanding of SOTIF principles, methodologies, and applicable safety standards • Document technical findings, communicate risks, and participate in cross-functional engineering discussions • Improve engineering processes, safety analyses, and requirements development practices for Torc’s Level 4 autonomous trucking platform

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent with 6+ years relevant experience, or a Master’s Degree and 3+ years relevant experience • Technical proficiency in software systems engineering, systems engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related discipline • Strong systems engineering fundamentals and ability to analyze complex software-intensive autonomous systems • Experience developing, deriving, decomposing, or refining system and/or autonomy software requirements • Technical foundation in software engineering, including hands-on software development or substantial experience working with software development teams • Understanding of the software development lifecycle • Ability to analyze technical problems, assess risks, and translate findings into actionable engineering requirements • Familiarity with requirements decomposition, traceability, and validation • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Effective written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work independently and collaborate with experienced engineers • Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to new engineering challenges • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Commitment to safe, reliable, and high-quality engineering solutions • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information ethically and professionally • Prior SOTIF or automotive experience is not required
