• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the academic department • Guide faculty, programs, and initiatives toward excellence • Shape the department’s vision and foster shared understanding of faculty success • Lead faculty workload planning, scheduling, performance, development, and contracts • Contribute to student and curriculum success • Collaborate with faculty and administrative teams • Create departmental vision and shared aims • Support external partnerships and relationships • Review departmental success metrics and create continuous improvement strategies • Develop, organize, and monitor faculty success initiatives • Mentor and support faculty in achieving goals and career outcomes • Review faculty teaching quality and development plans • Support divisional curriculum success initiatives and strategic plans • Participate in department, college, and university meetings, shared governance, and committees • Lead search and hiring committees and make departmental hiring decisions • Create and monitor the departmental budget with college leadership • Oversee program review, accreditation, and licensure efforts • Develop and improve courses and innovative teaching practices with instructional designers, assessment specialists, and other experts • Implement initiatives to enhance student learning and success outcomes • Develop and improve course materials, texts, media, assessment tools, and instructional modalities • Review, support, and mentor the instructional quality of associate faculty • Lead continuous improvement of curriculum and instructional design • Coordinate holistic student support initiatives with student success and academic support teams • Monitor, organize, and report on students’ sense of connection in an online environment • Deliver high-quality, engaging online instruction in asynchronous courses • Connect learning to workforce skills and professional advancement • Foster a supportive learning environment for adult learners • Prioritize student learning, achievement, and timely feedback • Maintain communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries • Ensure academic integrity and uphold university policies • Collaborate with academic support teams to enhance student experience
• Earned doctorate degree in a discipline aligned with the academic program • Experience in academic leadership, including faculty development, curriculum oversight, or departmental operations • Evidence of adequate training, depth of knowledge in a particular specialty, and capacity to undertake high-quality teaching and service • Collaborative and student-centered approach to leadership and instructional support • Experience contributing to or leading strategic planning and implementation in academic programs • Ability to provide visionary and strategic leadership to guide academic programs and faculty toward institutional excellence • Skill in managing faculty workload planning, performance evaluation, and development within an online workforce academic environment • Ability to oversee academic operations, including course scheduling, faculty contracts, and resource allocation • Strong organizational and decision-making skills • Ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships • Skill in resolving faculty concerns • Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning, curriculum development, and assessment strategies, especially in virtual environments • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong organizational and time management skills • Demonstrated ability to lead programmatic initiatives, mentor faculty, and foster continuous improvement • Knowledge of scaling innovative teaching practices and supporting holistic student development in online learning environments • Applied professional experience in the field preferred • Experience teaching in on-ground and online higher education, including faculty development, instructional design, and continuous improvement preferred • Experience working with adult, non-traditional, and post-traditional learners preferred • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
