📋 Description

• Assess security controls within GCP and Kubernetes and contribute to improving Virta’s security posture • Partner with Engineering, Product, and Platform teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle • Design, implement, and manage security tooling and automation for vulnerability detection, remediation, and compliance verification • Evolve IAM strategy with least-privilege access and robust auditing • Improve network security architecture, policies, and controls in the cloud environment • Establish, document, and communicate security policies, standards, and guidelines • Drive vulnerability management and improve incident response preparedness • Promote security awareness and best practices across the engineering organization • Learn Virta’s systems, CI/CD pipelines, security tooling, and cloud configurations during the first 90 days • Evaluate IAM/RBAC, data security, network controls, and security policies, then begin foundational security improvement and automation projects

🎯 Requirements

• Understanding and practical experience securing cloud-native applications and infrastructure, particularly in Kubernetes environments • GCP experience strongly preferred • Strong grasp of networking concepts, identity management (IAM), encryption, and common web application vulnerabilities, including OWASP Top 10 • Hands-on application security experience, including secure coding practices, vulnerability management, and security testing (SAST, DAST, IAST) • Exposure to threat modeling is a plus • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, specifically Terraform • Development experience with Go and/or Python • 5–7+ years of experience, including 2+ years at a high-growth startup or similar environment • Ability to clearly articulate complex security concepts to diverse audiences and influence technical direction across teams • Expected to follow Virta's security and privacy procedures for HIPAA-governed patient information
