📋 Description

• Lead two teams providing testing and documentation services to multiple Wikimedia Foundation engineering teams • Collaborate with teams and cross-functional stakeholders to align testing and documentation needs • Balance project goals with technical requirements and team skill sets • Drive execution, ensure SLAs are met, track key performance metrics, and unblock work • Expand and refine automated processes and support adoption of software-quality and documentation best practices • Promote quality and documentation-first practices across engineering teams • Oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of automated test suites, manual testing practices, and technical documentation • Ensure both teams are engaged, productive, and understand project context and organizational impact • Coach team members, conduct performance reviews, provide career guidance, and build a professional, inclusive work culture • Support software quality and documentation for software running Wikipedia and sister projects

🎯 Requirements

• Demonstrated engineering experience in a technical management or leadership role • Strong hands-on experience developing, designing, and reviewing software applications using Go, Python, PHP, or other object-oriented programming languages • Proven track record managing a team providing centralized services such as quality assurance, technical documentation, or technical program management to various product teams • Experience managing expectations of diverse teams with varying goals and prioritizing service-team tasks effectively • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English • Established success working with multicultural, remote, and distributed high-performing teams • Alignment with Wikimedia Foundation’s mission and values • Experience with open source development methodologies and open source communities • Technical background in manual and automated testing or technical documentation writing • Ability to implement scalable testing and documentation strategies • Experience with remote work and building healthy geographically distributed teams • Experience with large-scale global developer ecosystems and platforms • Knowledge of testing automation tools for E2E and Visual Regression • Knowledge of documentation-as-code tools such as Markdown • Experience transitioning Test Engineers from manual testing to automation • Familiarity with MediaWiki • Non-US employees must have current work authorization in their location
