📋 Description

• Deliver sharing and permissions features across Canva’s product, including the flagship design experience, content management, and brand • Propose innovative approaches and solutions to future-proof Canva’s product decision platforms and deliver business outcomes • Shape improvements by writing design documents and running design meetings • Advocate for best practices that enhance service performance, resilience, and adaptability • Design and implement intricate system aspects and solve complex technical challenges • Guide implementation of major projects, plan task breakdowns, and keep engineers aligned using verbal and written communication, including architectural diagrams • Mentor engineers and help them navigate technical challenges and professional development • Facilitate and orchestrate cross-team initiatives that improve reliability, velocity, and security

🎯 Requirements

• Extensive experience developing distributed web applications • Deep understanding of Java • Proven track record planning and executing complex architectural changes • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills • Proven experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams, unblocking technical challenges, and serving as a role model • Mastery of computer science and engineering fundamentals, including concurrency, data structures, and distributed systems • Strong understanding of resiliency techniques including load balancing, throttling, back pressure, and circuit breaking • Hands-on experience working in large distributed cloud environments; AWS preferred • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes and Terraform • Bonus: Experience with a large-scale distributed asset management system • Ability to provide pronouns and identify reasonable interview adjustments when applying
