• Collaborate with the legal team on legal research, drafting transactional documents, reports, memoranda, and other written work products • Attend internal working group and program meetings • Implement and continuously improve practices, protocols, and tools • Perform other duties related to the position as required • Support the Center's work in assisting New York homeowners facing housing instability and discriminatory lending and property law practices
• First- or second-year law students in good standing for the J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school • Enrolled and registered student at an accredited law school • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to work efficiently, meet deadlines, and act with integrity • Growth mindset with resilience, expansive thinking, and curiosity • Passion for promoting affordable homeownership and equity in New York • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Office Suite, or related software
• Competitive stipend of $4,200.00 for the Summer term • Valuable experience in various practice areas including compliance, housing law, insurance law, employment law, non-profit governance, and internal policy review • Substantive experience in legal issues impacting policy and strategy • Opportunity to work with a diverse legal team and collaborate on cross-group projects • Remote/virtual position with a minimum commitment of 14 hours per week for twelve weeks
