• GameChanger's A-Team is responsible for acquiring and activating basketball teams at scale. The A-Team is responsible for team management, notifications, and third party integrations related to tournaments. As a Staff Backend Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for setting the long term technical direction of what we own and help establish API’s third party integrations can connect with. You’ll also make architectural decisions within our backend in order to support our web, iOS, and Android clients. • Develop and maintain scalable, robust, and efficient backend services. • Drive changes to our API and SDK to facilitate server/client communication. • Lead architectural decisions to ensure productivity + efficiency as our codebase grows. • Improve existing systems' performance, reliability, scalability, and develop new features. • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. • Ensure system security and data privacy compliance. • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge. • Create and maintain technical documentation for reference and reporting.
• Experience scaling a codebase to a large number of users and engineers. • Track record of successful projects utilizing Typescript and Node.js or another backend technology. • Experience writing scalable, performant server-side code. • A leader, willing to take ownership for the success of the team. • Outstanding problem-solving skills and ability to communicate solutions clearly. • Strong background of successfully mentoring engineers. • Enjoys building a collaborative atmosphere to create solutions to complex problems. • Our backend APIs are built with TypeScript, Node.js, Redis, and PostgreSQL and run in AWS. • 7+ years in a software development role. • 5+ years experience with Node.js or another backend technology. • 3+ years experience leading and implementing complex designs. • Experience with TypeScript is preferred. • Experience with a system deployed in an AWS environment is preferred.
