Description
• Co-manage a 35+ person engineering team and mentor senior engineers • Drive overall Engineering team’s operations and strategy • Collaborate with Client Partnerships team to pitch engagements to clients • Assist in scoping out timeline and requirements of engineering engagements • Involved in vetting, hiring, and training new members of the engineering team • Collaborate with Metalab's leadership team and keep company engagement high • Articulate constructive feedback, ensure team evaluation and ongoing support • Foster an open, collaborative, and inclusive environment for the engineering team • Able to provide guidance and direction to project teams, interact with engineering team and clients daily • Manage multiple client projects, ensuring on-time and budget delivery
Requirements
• 7+ years as a web or mobile engineer, 5+ years leading a software development team • Experience pitching and managing successful large-scale delivery accounts of $2m+ • Strong Back End production application experience using JSON REST and GraphQL API methodologies, ideally Node, Rails, Go, Python • Frontend client application experience using React and/or React Native • Effective communication with technical and non-technical audiences, leading presentations frequently • Produce diagrams and documentation reflecting architectural decisions, patterns, principles • Design API schemas, data models, database architecture for large-scale platform builds • Understanding of digital product-building process from start to finish • Experience leading and mentoring an engineering team, building and shipping products, design systems to market • Expert-level understanding of software development patterns, industry best practices, simple solutions for complex problems • Present to clients with credibility, clarity, and confidence, write statement of work (SOW) • Lead large teams globally: developers, product, QA teams, remote and nearshore development teams • Motivate and guide engineers to successful careers, work with world-class companies and great teammates to launch products • Travel to client meetings, experience in machine learning, AI, building physical/digital experiences
