• Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following: • Lead compliance with all international trade regulations related to US inbound customs and export controls: - Manage execution of customs compliance with timely fulfillment of customs obligations, including reporting and payment of customs duties, and preparation of responses to inquiries from regulatory agencies. - Pursue customs preferential treatment (including a Foreign Trade Zone) and cost savings strategies in alignment with Scout policies. - Oversee Free Trade Programs (FTA) within the region, including USMCA. - Monitor the latest developments in US trade compliance legislation. - Lead governance efforts and provide cross-functional support, collaborating across functions (Supply Chain, Logistics, Legal, Finance, Purchasing, Sales) to ensure that Scout’s US operations are fully compliant
• 7+ years of extensive experience in customs/international trade compliance • Bachelor's Degree—preferably in International Business or related field, Tax, or Finance • Subject matter expertise in relevant areas of customs compliance (classification, valuation, export/import, country of origin, trade agreements, FTZs) • Knowledge of U.S., CAN and MX import and export control laws and regulations as they relate to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other applicable Government agencies. • Individual contributor with ability to mentor and develop employees and direct reports (as the Customs and Export Controls function grows). • Ability to collaborate with all levels within the organization to develop and deploy effective solutions and broader strategies. • Demonstrated history of managing customs broker, freight forwarder, and government agency relationships. • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. • Attention to detail and strong verbal/written communication skills. • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and data analytics solutions • Global Trade Management technology/ERP experience such as: SAP (GTS or GTM) or other global trade management software. • Additional Preferred Qualifications: • U.S. Customs Brokers License • Familiarity with global indirect tax concepts (VAT, GST, S&U)
