📋 Description

• Own every powertrain component of the aircraft: motor, ESC, propeller and battery • Lead the full lifecycle from initial design through qualification to series production and continuous product iteration • Drive engineering, testing and qualification for assigned packages • Make engineering, cost and supplier decisions • Work with procurement on early supplier involvement, design-to-cost and design-to-scale • Feed test results and feedback into suppliers and engineering • Develop and implement engineering, production and industrialization solution concepts • Set up internal production lines (Blue Print Lines) to defined maturity before handover • Own budgets, BOMs, critical paths and schedules • Identify blockers, define mitigation strategies and report status to management • Ensure functional, non-functional, quality, safety, qualification and legal requirements are met • Represent the company during audits and ensure processes, supporting evidence and documentation are maintained • Own risk assessments, specifications and manuals • Create QMS-related processes and implement them within teams • Manage HSE and ESD topics for the area • Own interfaces with other teams • Represent Drive Train in steering committees and campaign reviews • Act as first escalation point for production, product and supplier quality

🎯 Requirements

• Completed a degree or vocational training in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, aerospace engineering, power electronics, energy or drive technology, or a comparable technical field • Several years of experience in drive train, propulsion, e-mobility, power electronics or battery systems • At least one product taken from prototype to series production • Expertise across motor, ESC, propeller and battery systems • Ability to assess designs for performance, thermal behaviour, safety and cost • Experience building or scaling production and supplier processes • Practical knowledge of design-to-cost and make-or-buy decisions • Experience with ISO 9001 or AS/EN 9100, traceability requirements and export control • Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup where processes may not yet exist • Clear communication in German and English • Nice to have: experience with UAV, aviation or defense programs and their qualification logic • Nice to have: hands-on experience in battery pack design, BMS or cell qualification • Nice to have: experience designing BLDC motors and bringing them into production • Nice to have: experience setting up propulsion test benches and measurement campaigns from scratch
