📋 Description

• Join EAS’s infrastructure team as an early-career engineer, working alongside a senior engineer • Learn to design, build, and operate backend infrastructure for developer-facing services on a Linux fleet and cloud foundation • Build internal improvements that make services easier to manage, faster, and cheaper to run • Write software that runs correctly and efficiently • Own code uptime and performance • Add tests and monitoring • Participate in the team’s on-call rotation

🎯 Requirements

• Early-career engineering experience with Linux, containers, and writing small services • Experience building something real end to end with users or real load • Comfortable with virtual machines and containers • Cloud experience; Google Cloud experience is used by Expo, while AWS, Azure, or a home lab experience carries over • Knowledge of operating systems, networks, databases, and distributed systems • Deep knowledge in at least one low-level area: operating system, network, cloud, or deployment path • Comfortable writing code and willingness to write substantially more • Systems-level knowledge of macOS or networking is a bonus • Ability to make sound decisions independently and propose effective improvements • Ability to write services that remain healthy over time • Ability to communicate ideas and code clearly through documentation, GitHub reviews, blog posts, and other writing • Understanding of Expo users' problems and goals • Daily use of agents for real work and ability to explain validation performed before trusting results
