📋 Description

• Lead engineering for Afresh's AI-powered fresh buying product used by grocery distribution center buyers • Hire, develop and retain a senior team of product engineers • Set engineering expectations, invest in team careers and address performance directly and on time • Review architecture, manage technical complexity and make deliberate technology debt decisions • Build relationships with engineering leaders across platform, data and AI • Own the DC Buying roadmap with product, design and science leads • Balance customer requests, technical investment and business goals • Understand users, business priorities, key metrics and customer needs • Make and deliver commitments internally and with customers • Turn broad goals into scoped plans with sequence, cost and dates • Keep leadership and partner teams informed and drive decisions to clarity • Own reliability, on-call health and data quality • Build a culture of problem ownership and early collaboration with customers, product and design • Develop innovative products that delight distribution center buyers and drive customer impact

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years managing engineering teams • Experience developing, scaling and supporting mission critical products in production • Experience leading across multiple functional domains, including front-end, back-end, data pipelines and applied science • Experience hiring, developing and managing performance on an engineering team • Clear, direct communication with stakeholders, executives and customers • Comfort with ambiguity and growth-stage pressure • Use of AI-native development practices day to day • This position is not eligible for company sponsorship • Familiarity with Python, TypeScript, React, GraphQL, Databricks and Azure is nice to have • Supply chain, retail or grocery experience is nice to have • Experience shipping forecasting, optimization or recommendation products is nice to have • Experience taking products from early design partners to production at enterprise customers is nice to have
