📋 Description

• Lead the day-to-day performance and development of the engineering organization • Manage and coach engineers and technical leads • Recognize and develop strong performers and future technical leaders • Address performance concerns directly and early • Own engineering hiring and onboarding • Create accountability for engineering delivery across teams • Monitor capacity, commitments, dependencies, and risks • Resolve cross-team dependencies, competing priorities, and delivery challenges • Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices across coding, testing, documentation, automation, and the development lifecycle • Improve developer productivity, team effectiveness, software quality, and responsible AI use • Partner with Product on capacity, feasibility, risk, tradeoffs, roadmap, and prioritization • Turn product priorities into realistic engineering commitments • Communicate risks and serve as an escalation point for delivery, staffing, and organizational issues • Build trust and understand team structures, processes, strengths, bottlenecks, and pain points • Establish one-on-ones, leadership presence, visibility into delivery risks, team health, and organizational capacity • Recommend improvements to execution, planning, staffing, team structure, and ownership boundaries • Reduce the SVP of Engineering's operational involvement • Build a predictable, transparent, high-performing engineering organization • Report to Alan Spadoni, SVP of Engineering

🎯 Requirements

• Experience leading and developing engineers across multiple product teams • Experience with performance management, hiring, and career development • Experience leading technical leads and senior engineers • Sufficient technical depth to understand engineering tradeoffs and earn experienced developers’ trust • Demonstrated success improving organizational effectiveness while maintaining a strong engineering culture • Ability to lead AI-assisted development adoption and measure impact on developer productivity, quality, or delivery • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States • Must address performance concerns, delivery risks, staffing gaps, ownership boundaries, and organizational issues effectively
