📋 Description

• Take technical ownership of brand-new, greenfield product spaces from inception to deployment • Build and deliver highly scalable, distributed microservices with emphasis on robust backend architecture • Work across diverse platforms and stacks, including JavaScript/TypeScript, infrastructure, and big-data pipelines tracking over 3 billion items and terabytes of analytics • Collaborate closely with Digital Product Managers to define technical strategy and turn ambiguous consumer needs into high-performing features • Stay current with technology trends and experiment with new technologies • Mentor members of the engineering community and lead by example • Participate in architectural design, code evaluations, and hands-on coding • Use TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL, Python, or Go with open-source RDBMS, distributed NoSQL databases, Docker/Kubernetes, and AWS cloud-native tools

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering) • At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply) • At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field • Preferred: 9+ years of experience coding with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Scala • Preferred: 5+ years contributing to open source frameworks • Preferred: 5+ years with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks • Preferred: 5+ years creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs • Preferred: 4+ years with databases and database management systems • Preferred: 4+ years with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies • Preferred: 4+ years with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks • Preferred: 4+ years using Git-based version-control systems • Preferred: 4+ years troubleshooting technical issues within cloud environments • Preferred: 3+ years mentoring senior engineers and driving professional development within technical teams • Preferred: 2+ years leveraging observability to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in distributed systems • Preferred: 1+ year leading architectural design reviews and influencing enterprise-wide technical standards and methodologies • Preferred: 1+ year establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams • Preferred: 1+ year implementing observability and reliability practices at scale • Experience leveraging modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots • Experience influencing technology strategy at the portfolio or business unit level • Experience with interactive AI tooling beyond basic code completion • Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts or large-scale technical initiatives • Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization
