📋 Description

• Apply AI tools in software engineering, testing, and delivered solutions while evaluating generated code • Lead small-to-medium features from technical design through completion, including requirements analysis, coding, testing, deployment, and production support • Translate internal security operations needs into secure software designs, APIs, automations, and services • Develop clean, tested software following Cisco design, secure coding, privacy, and engineering standards • Write code and unit tests with minimal guidance • Perform code reviews and improve code quality, maintainability, and secure development practices • Mentor peers and engineering interns through documentation, code reviews, and technical guidance • Prototype and deliver automation, tooling, and service improvements for security operations • Apply algorithms, data structures, and design patterns to complex engineering problems • Collaborate with Incident Command domain experts and Cisco teams across on-premises and cloud environments • Maintain and improve production application environments through monitoring, troubleshooting, and reliability improvements • Debug development and production issues, participate in on-call work, and contribute to postmortems and root cause analysis • Coordinate timelines, specifications, blockers, and trade-offs with team members and stakeholders

🎯 Requirements

• Typically 5 or more years of related software engineering experience, or equivalent experience through advanced degree, technical depth, or demonstrated impact • Experience writing software in Python, Go, Java, or similar languages • Experience working in a Linux or Unix-based environment • Demonstrated experience using AI coding generators responsibly and evaluating generated code • Experience applying AI technologies to stakeholder, operational, or customer needs • Strong secure development practices, including secure coding, code review, privacy awareness, and feature-level threat models • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, services, integrations, automation, or full-stack capabilities • Experience with CI/CD, containerized builds and deployments, and orchestration platforms such as Docker Swarm or Kubernetes • Ability to efficiently use, move, transform, and supply large amounts of data • Experience troubleshooting production services, improving reliability, participating in on-call rotations, and contributing to postmortems or root cause analysis • Ability to work independently and communicate status, risks, and trade-offs clearly • Ability to collaborate with peer stakeholders within and across teams • Ability to mentor peers and support less experienced engineers • Security operations, incident detection and response, detection engineering, threat analysis, or adjacent cybersecurity experience preferred • Cloud-native services or operational tooling experience preferred • Observability, monitoring, alerting, and reliability experience preferred • Data pipelines, event-driven architectures, stream processing, or large-scale security analytics experience preferred • Familiarity with Agile, Kanban, CI, CD, and modern engineering workflows preferred
