📋 Description

• Build and maintain production backend services and APIs in Python using FastAPI • Implement retrieval workflows including RAG, embeddings, and vector search • Work closely with engineers and stakeholders to make sound technical trade-offs • Help keep systems clean, reliable, and easy to extend • Debug and evaluate AI-generated code when it fails or is confidently incorrect

🎯 Requirements

• 4–8 years of professional software engineering experience • Proven software engineering fundamentals and ability to build reliable, maintainable, and extensible systems • Experience working with ML/AI systems in a production environment • Native/fluent proficiency in English • AI as a primary authoring tool, with ability to define appropriate levels of model autonomy • Ability to critically evaluate and debug AI-generated code • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, now and in the future • Physically located in the US while working • Eastern time zone strongly preferred, with at least six hours of daily overlap with 9:00–17:00 ET • Exceptional command of Python • Exceptional command of FastAPI and related topics • Production API experience backed by PostgreSQL • Good command of Docker in development and deployment • Exceptional understanding of version control, CI/CD, environments, and debugging • Familiarity with retrieval workflows (RAG) and embedding-based search • Experience in early-stage startups is a plus • Understanding of infrastructure as code is a plus • Experience with Natural Language Processing is a plus • Familiarity with at least one front-end framework is a plus
