📋 Description

• Set the architectural direction for the granular access control platform over a 1–3 year horizon • Define APIs, shippable iterations, build-versus-buy decisions, technical debt strategy, and reliability scaling approach • Lead the design and evolution of a sophisticated, scalable, reliable access control framework • Lead complex, high-stakes initiatives spanning multiple teams • Negotiate priorities, resolve dependencies, and influence peers without authority • Ship and maintain platform capabilities in Go on Kubernetes across cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP • Take ownership of the most complex and frequently used parts of the system • Own production reliability, monitor SLOs, and address security and reliability risks • Eliminate systemic failure modes and toil through architectural, deployment, and tooling improvements • Partner with the product manager to assess customer needs and co-create the roadmap • Balance long-term investments with customer requests and predictable delivery • Partner with teams building on the platform and engage them early and often • Work with security and compliance partners on reviews, audits, and customer commitments • Track external developments in identity and access management, security models, and AI-agent access control • Mentor engineers and interview and onboard new team members

🎯 Requirements

• Track record of taking an ambitious vision from an idea to production • Ability to work through ambiguity collaboratively with customers and partners toward iterative execution • Experience owning initiatives spanning several teams from inception to delivery • Experience working alongside product managers, designers, and other engineers • Experience with large-scale distributed systems • Judgment to weigh reliability, scalability, security, cost, and time-to-market trade-offs • Strong product sense • Experience building platform capabilities adopted by other engineering teams • Experience driving adoption through collaboration and negotiation • Experience partnering and negotiating with infrastructure engineering teams • Technical depth to lead design reviews, assess design risk, understand critical code paths, and evaluate engineering trade-offs • Familiarity with enterprise software and security-conscious customer expectations around access control, authentication, and auditability • Background in platform engineering, ideally with exposure to identity, access control, or security-adjacent infrastructure • Deep IAM specialization is a nice-to-have • Curiosity and motivation to learn a deep, complex domain • Habit of seeking feedback on designs • Fluency in a systems-level language such as Go, C++, Java, C#, or Rust • Communication skills to frame complex trade-offs for engineers, product managers, and leadership • Flexible, collaborative working style • No immigration sponsorship; applicants must not require work visa sponsorship
