📋 Description

• Support development, validation, and analysis of the next generation of education finance data • Contribute to data continuity and enrichment efforts and a machine learning pilot model through quantitative analyses • Support internal data systems and ingestion processes through data pipelines • Create and implement processes to enhance federal school finance data collections through data product development • Build and maintain quality assurance processes to identify anomalies and outliers in district- and state-level financial data • Incorporate long-term obligations such as pension and facilities expenditures into datasets • Implement processes to incorporate contributions from subcontractor subject matter experts • Support development and release of datasets and interactive web tools • Support creation and maintenance of training data for machine learning models mapping local accounting codes to standardized national categories • Manage manual validation of machine learning outputs against real-world district spending data • Evaluate model outputs and conduct error analysis with the technical team • Analyze finalized datasets to identify and resolve anomalies before public release • Document analytical methods, assumptions, and validation results reproducibly • Contribute to cloud infrastructure development, maintenance, and improvement • Develop internal and public-facing methodological documentation • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, policy experts, state and district leaders, and other stakeholders

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Data Science, Computer Science, Public Policy, or a related field • Working knowledge of Python and SQL • Familiarity with modern cloud data infrastructure such as Google Cloud Platform • Professional experience with version control through git • Demonstrated experience working as part of a high-performing technical team • Experience translating analytical models and findings into clear policy insights • Experience working with messy and inconsistently structured datasets • Availability for core working hours of 10 AM–5 PM ET • Ability to travel 4–6 times per year for in-person team collaboration and approximately 2–3 additional trips per year for external partner engagement • Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery for extended periods • Ability to remain stationary for a significant portion of the workday • Ability to communicate via video conference • Access to a quiet, professional remote work environment with reliable, high-speed internet • Must be authorized to work for an employer in the United States • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) preferred • Experience with public sector data systems or education finance reporting structures preferred
