📋 Description

• Administer and support AWS-hosted PostgreSQL (Amazon RDS/Aurora) environments • Monitor databases and perform backups, snapshots, restores, and routine maintenance • Manage snapshot retention, restoration, and refresh processes across production, lower, reporting, and test environments • Provide database and migration support for application releases, including schema changes, data fixes, rollback planning, and deployment validation • Monitor health, storage, connections, locks, long-running queries, vacuum/analyze activities, and replication status • Perform SQL performance tuning through query optimization, indexing strategy, execution-plan analysis, and table maintenance • Troubleshoot incidents and performance bottlenecks across databases, pipelines, and application connectivity • Manage database security, role management, access provisioning, and audit support • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using Python, SQL, and AWS data services • Support CDC and streaming architectures using AWS DMS, AWS Kinesis, Debezium, and Amazon MSK/Apache Kafka • Enable near-real-time data movement from PostgreSQL to reporting schemas, data lakes, Snowflake, and Databricks • Develop automation scripts for data movement, validation, reconciliation, and operational support • Collaborate with application, DevOps, data platform, reporting/analytics, QA, and business teams • Drive root-cause analysis and remediation of data quality issues

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field • 5+ years of related experience • Advanced SQL • AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL administration, including monitoring, backup/restore, snapshots, and environment refreshes • Advanced SQL performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing, and execution plans • Python for data engineering, automation, and pipeline development • Must have lived in the United States at least three out of the last five years • Must be available within Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm EST core hours • NACI (T1) public trust requirement • Less than 10% travel required • Preferred: CDC/streaming with AWS DMS, AWS Kinesis, Debezium, Amazon MSK/Apache Kafka; logical replication, WAL, and replication slot management • Preferred: Data pipeline design and operations for ingestion, transformation, and migration; near-real-time movement into Snowflake, Databricks, or data lakes • Preferred: Troubleshooting database, SQL, pipeline, and integration performance; release-related database scripting/support • Preferred: ETL/ELT tools, orchestration/workflow automation, shell scripting, Git, CI/CD, Agile/Scrum or SAFe environments • Preferred: Data governance, data quality, metadata/lineage, and reconciliation processes • Preferred: Experience with regulated enterprise systems such as healthcare, government, or financial systems
