📋 Description

• Lead the design and implementation of systems powering Headway’s insurance operations • Build systems for patient identification, pricing estimates, provider matching, and claims • Build data-intensive, ML-powered platforms serving patients and providers • Develop systems that learn from every visit • Mentor engineers • Write high-impact code at the intersection of healthcare data and payer operations • Build ML models to improve price estimate accuracy • Develop OCR pipelines for insurance cards and automate eligibility checks • Build ML systems to detect complex insurance arrangements • Develop claims AI agents that review denied claims, identify root causes, and resubmit claims autonomously • Build human-in-the-loop automation for provider credentialing

🎯 Requirements

• Platform-thinking approach to software engineering • Ability to build abstractions that enable teams to move faster and more safely • Ability to find structure in messy payer data and build reliable reasoning systems • Hands-on coding ability • Experience turning ambiguous problems into shipped software • Ability to define solutions and coordinate across teams as priorities shift • Precise written and verbal communication • Experience with TypeScript • Experience with Python 3 • Experience with React, Remix, or Next.js • Experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Postgres, Redis, or Snowflake • Experience with AWS, Temporal, or Kafka • Experience with Datadog, Sentry, or PagerDuty • Experience with AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, Gemini, or Eddy • Authorization to work in the United States for any employer
