📋 Description

• Drive technical direction, implementation, and production support for client-facing gRPC APIs and SDKs powering provider search, ranking, and dynamic copay lookups • Drive public API design decisions involving versioning, backward compatibility, field masks, CEL-based filtering, error semantics, and gRPC status code conventions • Design and evolve ranking and steerage logic balancing relevance, network status, cost, client overrides, and plan-specific incentives • Design for scale and reliability under production load, including geofenced queries, rate limiting, retry and timeout budgets, and graceful degradation • Partner with product and partner engineering teams on external SDK and developer experience, projects, and roadmap • Write and review code and designs, set technical direction, drive execution, mentor engineers, and scale the team

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years building backend services and distributed systems • Deep experience with search systems and architecture at scale • Production experience building or evolving search or ranking systems • Experience with keyword/lexical search, vector/embedding-based retrieval, and LLM-driven query understanding or reranking • Track record shipping public APIs and SDKs, including versioning, backward compatibility, and multi-language client libraries • Ability to set architectural direction, write clear design documents, and influence without authority • Experience running GCP data infrastructure at scale, including AlloyDB/Postgres, BigQuery, and Bigtable • Prior experience with provider search, clinical/specialty matching, network steerage, or benefits/copay logic in healthcare or insurance context • Familiarity with geospatial query patterns at scale • Experience building retrieval evaluation frameworks • Experience in Go, gRPC, and protobuf in production • Terraform/Terraform Cloud experience • Start-up experience
