📋 Description

• Build and lead the decision science team • Hire, onboard, coach, and develop scientists and analysts • Own team members’ career growth • Set the function’s strategy, roadmap, priorities, and success measures • Partner with product, engineering, marketing, finance, and executive leadership to define analytical problems • Direct predictive, prescriptive, and causal modeling for product decisions, customer retention, pricing, and operating efficiency • Improve delivery of insights through dashboards, metric definitions, written recommendations, and executive readouts • Present findings and recommendations to senior leaders • Grow data literacy across Instructure • Work with data engineering and platform teams on data, tooling, and infrastructure • Ensure ethical and privacy-conscious use of data, including student data • Follow applicable regulations and company standards

🎯 Requirements

• 10 or more years of experience in data science, analytics, or decision science • At least three years managing and developing a team • Track record of analytical work that changed real decisions and produced measurable business results • Deep expertise in experimental design, causal inference, statistical modeling, and machine learning • Strong SQL skills • Fluency in Python or R • Experience with modern data platforms and large-scale data tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Spark • Ability to explain complicated analysis to executives in plain language and defend methods to quantitative peers • Record of hiring, developing people, and building a strong team culture • Comfort setting priorities in a fast-moving environment with imperfect data • Master's or PhD in statistics, economics, computer science, operations research, applied mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience • Experience in education technology or B2B SaaS is nice to have • Familiarity with subscription and product-led growth metrics is nice to have • Experience building an analytics or decision science function from an early stage is nice to have • Must pass a background check • Candidates may be required to verify legal name, current physical location, valid contact number, and residential address
