📋 Description

• Build and ship features end-to-end across any tier of the Invaluable platform, from implementation through testing and deployment • Refactor legacy areas and reduce technical debt through pragmatic, incremental changes • Diagnose production issues, fix bugs, and improve user experience with measurable outcomes • Drive backend architecture and standards by proposing patterns, tooling, and conventions • Collaborate through pairing, code reviews, and shared problem-solving across time zones • Mentor and support engineers through best-practice sharing, feedback, guidance, and technical leadership • Partner with Product and Design to clarify requirements, scope work, identify tradeoffs, and deliver high-quality user experiences

🎯 Requirements

• 5–7+ years of professional backend engineering experience • Strong proficiency with Java • Experience with one other language, either backend or frontend • Experience working in and improving legacy codebases • Ability to modernize legacy code safely over time • Strong automated testing experience • Ability to write clean, performant, understandable, and maintainable code • Pragmatic AI-assisted development while meeting code review and quality standards • Strong technical judgment • Ability to propose solutions, explain tradeoffs, and make pragmatic decisions for long-term codebase health • Excellent communication skills • Collaborative and kind approach; willingness to participate in pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing • Experience with ecommerce or payment products preferred • Experience with high-traffic consumer products preferred • Experience improving performance and observability in production preferred • Experience mentoring more junior developers preferred • Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS preferred • Experience with microservices architectures preferred • Must work from inside the United States • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
