📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain data-driven software applications supporting distribution of aeronautical information to FAA customers • Perform ad hoc software development for special projects and emerging Aeronautical Data Team requirements • Customize, configure, and integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf applications • Modernize, replace, or augment legacy applications • Evaluate, test, and validate COTS applications before deployment • Gather, analyze, clarify, and document functional and technical requirements with users and stakeholders • Develop and implement workflows supporting Aeronautical Data Team projects • Design, develop, and maintain relational database structures, queries, stored procedures, views, functions, interfaces, and application components • Translate business and operational requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure software solutions • Troubleshoot application, database, integration, production, and data-quality issues; perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions • Develop and maintain technical documentation • Participate in technical working groups, planning sessions, requirements discussions, design reviews, code reviews, and project meetings • Collaborate with developers, database personnel, system administrators, analysts, testers, and FAA stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle • Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentoring • Support software quality, cybersecurity, configuration management, and organizational development standards • Perform additional software and database development activities supporting program and customer objectives

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related technical discipline and at least 8 years of relevant professional experience • Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree • Significant experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise software applications • Experience with modern programming languages and frameworks such as C#, .NET, Java, Python, JavaScript, or comparable technologies • Strong experience with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or comparable platforms • Experience developing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, database schemas, and data interfaces • Experience developing or supporting database-driven web, desktop, or enterprise applications • Experience modernizing, replacing, or enhancing legacy software applications • Experience translating user and business requirements into functional and technical solutions • Experience troubleshooting complex application, database, interface, and data-quality issues • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation • Experience across the software development lifecycle • Ability to independently manage technical assignments and solve complex development challenges • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills • Ability to collaborate with government customers, users, technical personnel, and cross-functional teams • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance • Preferred: federal customer, aeronautical/aviation/geospatial/transportation data, COTS, cloud, REST APIs, DevSecOps, source control, Agile methodologies, secure SDLC, reviews, technical leadership, and FAA AIS experience
