📋 Description

• Lead technical planning and execution of assigned VoIP, VTC, telephony, and collaboration projects or workstreams • Coordinate engineering activities across multiple technical areas, track dependencies and milestones, and support project deliverables • Provide technical guidance, review engineering work products, resolve technical issues, and mentor engineers • Identify technical risks, constraints, assumptions, and dependencies and recommend mitigation approaches • Support engineering estimates, bills of material, staffing assumptions, implementation schedules, and levels of effort • Analyze operational, functional, technical, cybersecurity, performance, availability, and supportability requirements • Evaluate alternatives and trade studies based on capability, cost, risk, interoperability, lifecycle, security, supportability, and complexity • Translate customer and program requirements into system, subsystem, interface, configuration, and testing requirements • Develop and maintain high-level and low-level designs, interface definitions, bills of material, configuration baselines, implementation procedures, rollback plans, test plans, and as-built documentation • Plan and perform laboratory validation, interoperability testing, system testing, acceptance testing, and verification activities • Apply engineering, cybersecurity, configuration-management, and quality-assurance processes • Support transition of new or modified solutions to operations • Design and integrate enterprise voice, video teleconferencing, SIP, Session Border Controller, telephony, and collaboration solutions • Engineer dial plans, E.164 normalization, digit manipulation, call routing, SIP trunking, carrier interconnections, PSTN services, voice gateways, voicemail, and emergency calling • Design and integrate multi-vendor VTC and audiovisual collaboration environments • Develop on-premises voice and cloud collaboration integrations including Microsoft Teams Phone, Direct Routing, Operator Connect, and Webex Calling • Design high availability, geographic redundancy, survivability, disaster recovery, capacity management, and service continuity • Configure, integrate, test, deploy, and troubleshoot IP telephony systems, SIP proxies, voice gateways, SBCs, VTC systems, and unified communications platforms • Perform root-cause analysis and document corrective actions and lessons learned • Design and validate end-to-end QoS, including DSCP, Layer 2 CoS, queuing, shaping, policing, call-admission control, bandwidth planning, and class-of-service mapping • Evaluate routing, switching, VLAN, firewall, NAT, DNS, certificate, and transport conditions affecting voice and video services • Support monitoring, alerting, call-quality analytics, call-detail records, capacity reporting, and trend analysis • Collaborate with engineering, operations, cybersecurity, program leadership, customers, carriers, vendors, subcontractors, and system integrators • Lead or participate in technical interchange meetings, peer reviews, architecture reviews, test-readiness reviews, and implementation-readiness reviews • Develop technical recommendations and support technology-modernization and product-roadmap activities

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field • Typically 8–12 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 6–10 years with a master's degree • Progressive engineering experience in VoIP, VTC, enterprise telephony, unified communications, collaboration systems, networking, or a closely related technical discipline • Demonstrated experience leading technical execution of complex projects, workstreams, implementations, or engineering efforts involving multiple technologies or disciplines • Experience with requirements analysis, solution design, alternatives analysis, integration, testing, implementation planning, documentation, and transition to operations • Experience providing technical guidance, peer review, training, or mentoring to other engineers • Strong knowledge of SIP, SDP, RTP/RTCP, SRTP, H.323, MGCP, ISDN/PRI, and related protocols • Experience with enterprise call-control platforms, dial plans, E.164 numbering, SIP trunks, PSTN connectivity, voice gateways, voicemail, and emergency calling • Experience with VTC and collaboration technologies including Cisco, Poly, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Crestron, and Webex • Experience configuring and troubleshooting AudioCodes, Ribbon, Cisco CUBE, Oracle Communications Session Border Controller/Acme Packet, or comparable SBC platforms • Knowledge of IP networking, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, NAT, packet analysis, QoS policy design, and bandwidth planning • Working knowledge of SIP TLS, mutual TLS, SRTP, certificates and PKI, directory services, identity integration, secure configuration baselines, vulnerability remediation, and configuration management • Ability to use Wireshark, platform traces, SBC logs, call-detail records, monitoring systems, and other diagnostic tools • Ability to independently lead complex technical efforts and provide technical direction and mentorship without formal supervisory authority • Strong judgment, decision-making, verbal and written communication, customer and stakeholder-management, problem-solving, and knowledge-sharing skills • Cisco Certified Network Professional Collaboration or comparable certification preferred • Current Microsoft, AudioCodes, Ribbon, Cisco, or comparable voice/collaboration certification preferred • Experience with PowerShell, Python, REST APIs, and telephony automation preferred • Experience supporting geographically distributed, highly available, or mission-critical voice and video environments preferred • Equivalent relevant education, certifications, and practical experience may be considered
