📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications • Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues • Support enhancements and sustainment activities for applications utilizing Java, Spring Framework, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle, and related technologies • Design and implement REST and SOAP-based services and integrations • Develop and maintain backend services utilizing Java 17+, Spring Boot, microservices, JPA/Hibernate, and REST APIs • Collaborate with architects and senior developers on modernization initiatives • Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations • Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers • Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and application deployments • Modernize the Department of Veterans Affairs’ eligibility and enrollment systems supporting Veterans, families, and caregivers

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience) • 5–8 years of software development experience in professional environment • Strong hands-on experience with Java development • Hands-on experience with Spring Framework and/or Spring Boot • Hands-on experience developing REST APIs and web services • Experience working with Oracle or other relational databases • Experience using Git-based source control • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills • Strong verbal communication skills • Experience working with VA, Next.js, Java 17+, and Spring Boot • US Citizenship required
