📋 Description

• Implement end-to-end features in Django 5.x and Django REST Framework from written task briefs • Develop both the backend analytical engine and HTMX frontend in a single codebase • Maintain strict API parity between the HTMX frontend and REST API, including identical data shapes • Use Claude Code in VS Code to execute scoped work and review AI-produced code • Review pull requests and catch decoupling and compliance violations • Help less-experienced engineers structure briefs, prompts, diffs, and session-management documentation • Mentor engineers on reliable AI-assisted development practices • Maintain architectural mandates for backend decoupling and regulatory compliance • Keep PROJECT_SNAPSHOT.md, CLAUDE.md, OPEN_TICKETS.md, and LESSONS_BANKED.md synchronized • Record lessons learned and deferred-work tickets • Collaborate asynchronously with the founding engineer and other contributors • Make and document architectural decisions and provide constructive pushback when needed

🎯 Requirements

• Solid experience with Django 5.x and Django REST Framework • Ability to build viewsets, write serializers, and reason about query performance • Full-stack experience with vanilla JavaScript, HTMX, and Django templates • Ability to extend HTMX screens and write JavaScript integration when needed • Experience with Celery, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Docker Compose • Experience with or willingness to quickly learn pandas, NumPy, statsmodels, scikit-learn, and analytical code • Real-world experience using Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar AI-assisted development tools • Experience reviewing other engineers’ work through technical leadership, senior engineering, or open-source maintainership • Strong writing skills for task briefs, documentation, commit messages, and pull-request reviews • Temperament suited to working in a regulated domain • College degree preferred • 5–7 years of experience in the current or a related field • Strong computer skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment • Effective communication, listening, problem-solving, and handling difficult calls • Ability to multitask • General knowledge of processing, underwriting, or appraisals is a plus • Ability to work well with coworkers, vendors, suppliers, and customers • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods • Ability to use a phone with or without a headset • Ability to lift, push, pull, and reach for items under 10 lbs
