• Perform technical assessments supporting quality assurance activities associated with radioactive mixed waste characterization, packaging, transportation, and disposal. • Apply technical specialist expertise in characterization processes, including Non-Destructive Assay, Visual Examination, and/or Flammable Gas Analysis. • Assess the effectiveness of activities associated with waste characterization and related radioactive mixed waste program requirements. • Evaluate technical processes, documentation, and compliance with applicable requirements. • Apply expert-level knowledge of nuclear facilities, waste characterization, hazardous materials, engineering, chemistry, industrial safety, nuclear safety, radioactive packaging and transportation, or similar disciplines. • Use applicable regulations, procedures, and program documents to complete assigned activities during CBFO program area audits. • Coordinate technical input, assessment observations, and quality-related findings in support of program performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
• 15 years of directly relevant and applicable experience; or a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree and five years of relevant experience in the specific discipline or subject matter area required by the project. • Experience assessing radioactive mixed waste characterization, packaging, transportation, and disposal activities. • Expert-level knowledge of nuclear facilities, waste characterization, hazardous materials, engineering, chemistry, industrial safety, nuclear safety, radioactive packaging and transportation, or similar disciplines. • Knowledge of applicable regulations associated with the relevant expert discipline. • Technical experience with Non-Destructive Assay, Visual Examination, and/or Flammable Gas Analysis. • Ability to obtain working knowledge of CBFO QAPD, WIPPWAP, WIPP-WAC, and TRAMPAC within 90 days of employment. • Ability to travel approximately once per month. • US citizenship required due to government contract and/or clearance requirements. • Preferred: CBFO program area audit or WIPP-related experience; familiarity with DOE quality assurance expectations and nuclear facility environments; strong technical communication and documentation skills.
