📋 Description

• Lead partner fundraising tools, admin dashboards, and supporting services from technical design through launch and iteration • Design and build secure, well-tested Python FastAPI services, data models, and integrations • Run data pipelines importing election and campaign data from vendors, APIs, flat files, and scraping jobs • Maintain data accuracy • Build and maintain payment and vendor integrations across Stripe, Chariot, and other partners • Lead or support integration migrations as the platform changes • Evolve Postgres, Redis, and background jobs for scale and reliability ahead of high-traffic election moments • Monitor production systems and participate in on-call • Lead incident response and blameless follow-ups • Partner with product and design to shape product direction and identify tradeoffs • Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and improve engineering conventions, including for AI-assisted development

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, much of it on full-stack web applications, with depth on the back end • Strong Python, with production experience building and running APIs • Experience with FastAPI, Django, or Flask • Solid PostgreSQL data modeling, query tuning, and migrations • Experience scaling Postgres in production, including connection pooling, replicas, or high availability • Experience with job queues and async processing, such as Celery and Redis, including retries, idempotency, and debugging failed jobs • Production experience with payment APIs, ideally Stripe • Experience building reliable third-party integrations, including webhooks, reconciliation, and handling vendor outages • Hands-on experience with authentication and role-based access control • Working proficiency in TypeScript and React • Experience monitoring and debugging production systems with tools like Datadog • Comfortable taking part in on-call • Track record of owning features end to end on a small team and shipping iteratively • Effective use of AI coding tools while fully understanding and owning shipped work • Clear communication with non-engineers and ability to give and receive direct feedback • Nice to have: Integrations with Chariot or NGP Van • Nice to have: Building features on LLM APIs, such as the Anthropic Claude API • Nice to have: Transactional email at scale, such as SendGrid • Nice to have: Redux Toolkit • Nice to have: Rate limiting and abuse prevention • Nice to have: Experience in political tech, fundraising, or fintech
