📋 Description

• Lead development and deployment of next-generation intelligent safety features and video processing • Integrate high-performance camera systems and real-time edge computing into fleet and industrial products • Help execute technical strategy, cross-functional relationships, and operational cadence for scalable hardware programs • Influence Video-Safety engineering teams by solving complex technical problems, guiding architectural decisions, improving quality, and owning key technology-stack areas • Maintain production systems and provide operational support and supervision when necessary • Participate in roadmap planning and define technical direction and priorities for Safety products, tooling, release infrastructure, and automated testing • Ensure edge AI algorithms are accurate and run within device constraints • Partner with Hardware, backend, and Machine Learning teams to define and build next-generation devices • Mentor engineers and raise technical standards • Champion and embed Samsara's cultural principles as the company scales globally

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience in embedded software development, preferably with a focus on embedded Linux systems • Strong experience programming with Golang, C/C++, Rust, or similar • Strong experience with media pipelines, multimedia frameworks, and deploying CV/ML models on edge devices in real-world applications • Proven experience defining and implementing scalable embedded software architecture • Proven experience planning, designing, scoping, and delivering complex, multi-team, or cross-system long-term projects involving external dependencies • Desire to mentor and grow engineers of all levels • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with senior executives and junior engineers • Commitment to rigorous testing and validation practices • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, including Product Management, Cloud Software, Machine Learning, and Hardware • Experience working on products from concept to mass production • Proficiency in GStreamer, Google MediaPipe, or similar edge AI/media frameworks • Experience with data analysis using Databricks, SQL queries, or Tableau • Experience with Edge Camera Systems, Video Capture, Video Encoding, or Embedded AI • Familiarity with diverse quality/testing practices and continuous integration tooling • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent field (ideal candidate qualification)
