📋 Description

• Serve as a technical subject matter expert for BESS engineering scopes • Lead and manage BESS design and engineering, ensuring compliance with contracts, utilities, and AHJ requirements • Review feasibility studies, site assessments, and system sizing analyses • Contribute technically across electrical, civil, structural, SCADA, and HV engineering scopes • Manage Engineers of Record and third-party engineering partners • Coordinate with fire protection engineers and local fire departments/AHJs • Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for procurement • Provide technical oversight during procurement, including vendor recommendations and drawing reviews • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to design, procure, install, and commission BESS systems • Oversee system modeling, simulation, and analysis • Support construction through field issue resolution, design clarifications, and minor redesigns • Support testing, validation, commissioning, energization, and initial synchronization • Mentor junior engineers and project teams • Stay current with industry trends, standards, and regulatory requirements • Support business development through proposals, presentations, and technical consultations • Represent SOLV Engineering in customer and client meetings • Participate in regular team meetings and calls • Travel as required to support project execution • Complete other assigned responsibilities

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field • 3+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on BESS, renewables, or power systems • Expertise in battery energy storage systems, including lithium-ion batteries, inverters, BMS, and grid interconnection equipment • Knowledge of BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software • Proficiency in power system analysis and simulation tools, including PSS/E and PSCAD • Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IBC, ASCE, NESC, NFPA, and utility standards • Understanding of grid operations and regulatory requirements, including FERC Order 841 and IEEE 1547 • Understanding of fire protection requirements, including UL9540, UL9540A, and NFPA855 • Understanding of SCADA and Energy Management Systems communication protocols, including IEC 61850 • Project management experience including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management • Understanding of EPC engineering workflows • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, adapt to dynamic requirements, and meet tight deadlines • Commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability
