📋 Description

• Rearchitect and codify existing AWS and Azure infrastructure using OpenTofu/Terraform and Ansible • Establish module standards, remote state, and GitOps-based plan/apply pipelines • Audit the cloud estate against AWS and Azure Well-Architected Frameworks and drive remediation • Implement policy-as-code security, tagging, and compliance guardrails • Build reusable Terraform modules for compute, networking, storage, databases, and identity • Define FinOps standards, cost allocation dashboards, rightsizing recommendations, and reserved capacity planning • Design and implement observability across metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and OpenTelemetry instrumentation • Define SLIs/SLOs, error budget dashboards, and burn-rate alerting • Establish SRE practices including incident runbooks, post-incident reviews, and chaos engineering • Partner with engineering teams on service instrumentation, alerts, dashboards, and workload migrations • Build capacity planning models for compute and storage • Deploy and operate a developer portal with service catalog, scaffolding templates, runbooks, API documentation, and on-call ownership • Build and maintain golden paths for service creation, Kubernetes deployment, database provisioning, secrets management, and CI/CD setup • Own CI/CD platform templates, workflow libraries, container build and scan pipelines, and environment promotion workflows • Operate EKS and/or AKS clusters, Helm standards, admission controllers, RBAC, network policies, and service mesh • Build self-service provisioning through Backstage scaffolder actions and Terraform automation • Measure adoption, gather engineering feedback, and iterate on golden paths • Embed security across platform work, including IaC scanning, secrets management, RBAC, and container hardening • Write technical documentation, ADRs, and runbooks • Mentor junior platform engineers and contribute to architecture reviews and build-vs-buy decisions

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years in platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering with direct production ownership on AWS and/or Azure • Deep OpenTofu/Terraform proficiency, including module authoring, state management, workspace strategy, remote backends, and CI/CD integration • Strong Kubernetes operations experience: EKS and/or AKS cluster lifecycle, Helm, admission controllers, RBAC, network policies, and autoscaling • Hands-on observability experience with two or more of Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry • Experience defining SLIs/SLOs and engineering alerts • CI/CD platform experience, including GitHub Actions pipeline authoring, reusable workflow design, and container build/scan pipeline ownership • GitOps experience with ArgoCD or Flux for Kubernetes continuous delivery • IDP experience with Backstage or equivalent developer portal, GitHub, scaffolding templates, service catalog design, or self-service provisioning tooling • Security-first experience with policy-as-code, IaC scanning, secrets management, container hardening, and shift-left security practices • Strong communication and documentation skills; comfortable presenting architecture decisions to engineering peers and leadership • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer • Must not require employment-based visa sponsorship • Terramate is a plus • Progressive delivery patterns such as canary or blue-green are a strong plus • Nice-to-have experience with chaos engineering, error budget management, incident command, capacity planning, Istio or Linkerd, FinOps tooling, reserved capacity planning, AI/ML infrastructure, listed certifications, and Python or Go
