WellTheory serves both individuals and employers/health plans — offering members reduced symptoms through diet and lifestyle changes and providing employers tools like claims analysis and outcomes reports to lower specialty medication spend.

📋 Description

• Lead WellTheory’s first engineering function and establish engineering processes, quality standards, technical direction, and hiring practices • Lead and grow the engineering team through 1:1s, hiring, performance management, and career development • Design planning, code review, testing, release, and incident-management practices • Set foundational architecture direction with the founding engineer • Own the platform and DevOps roadmap, including non-production environments that keep PHI out of daily development • Partner with operations and compliance leads on HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST engineering requirements • Introduce coding agents, evaluations, and internal tooling to improve engineering productivity • Review code, pair on difficult problems, and contribute directly to production code • Partner with product and design on roadmap scope and tradeoffs • Represent engineering at the leadership table • Report to the Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer • Build the member app, Care Team tools, and insurance and data infrastructure connecting employers, health plans, and channel partners

🎯 Requirements

• Current work authorization in the United States • No visa sponsorship is available • Experience leading engineering teams through growth • Experience managing senior individual contributors, building teams, hiring, performance management, and career growth • Experience building in a regulated environment such as healthcare or fintech • Recent production TypeScript or JavaScript experience • Ownership of reliability, observability, environments, and incident response • Experience using AI to improve engineering team leverage • Experience partnering closely with product and design on roadmap development • Clear written communication and documentation skills in a fully remote environment • Access to protected health information is required • Bonus: digital health or B2B2C healthcare experience and knowledge of eligibility, claims, or care delivery tooling • Bonus: experience leading SOC 2 or HITRUST efforts from the engineering side
