📋 Description

• Contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of public-facing web applications supporting The National Map • Improve functionality within existing codebases • Develop visually appealing web interfaces • Enhance the presentation of geospatial information • Support processing and delivery of geospatial data through scripted processes • Document development workflows, technical decisions, and changes through written documentation, code comments, and assignment tickets • Make USGS geospatial data easier to access, explore, and understand

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience • Proven experience developing, enhancing, and maintaining responsive, user-focused web applications and interfaces using JavaScript, React, and modern JavaScript libraries • Ability to document development workflows and technical decisions through written documentation, code comments, assignment tickets, or similar methods • Strong collaboration and initiative with the ability to work effectively as part of a team, take ownership of assigned work, and proactively identify opportunities to improve applications and development processes • Familiarity with Python scripting for geospatial data processing • Proficiency with modern web development technologies such as Node.js, Vite, Next.js, Typescript, or similar tools • Background developing web mapping applications with ArcGIS JavaScript API or similar geospatial mapping technologies • Exposure to AWS cloud infrastructure and services
