Our ML problem space is unique: When you join the Butter ML team, you'll dive into a unique predictive problem: optimizing the recovery of failed payments. Recovering failed payments is a time bound, sequential prediction problem: - Constraints: For every failed payment, you have a number of retries you can attempt across a given timeframe - for example 3 retries over 30 days - Features: You'll navigate through a diverse range of payment information. - Approaches: You'll be tasked with identifying an optimal sequence of retry attempts using novel techniques. - Experimentation: You'll conduct dozens of model iterations and AB tests, directly contributing to the performance of our product.

These payments fail either because they are falsely detected as fraud or because of archaic systems in an aging payment ecosystem.
