📋 Description

• Take ownership of financial planning, management reporting, cash-flow management, budgeting and financial controls • Prepare and maintain short-term, long-term and rolling 13-week cash-flow forecasts • Monitor cash position, customer receipts, supplier payments, payroll and other major cash movements • Identify cash-flow requirements and shortfalls and recommend actions to improve cash conversion and working capital • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes • Prepare revenue, expense, payroll and cash-flow budgets and monthly or quarterly forecasts • Compare actual performance against budget and forecast and explain significant variances • Prepare monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reporting • Develop management dashboards and financial KPI reports • Analyse revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, profitability, trends, risks and opportunities • Present financial results and commercially focused insights to management • Analyse profitability by customer, contract, project and service line within the MSP/IT services business • Monitor recurring revenue, MRR, managed-service contract performance, contract margins and customer billing • Analyse labour utilisation, employee/contractor costs, software, cloud, hardware and third-party supplier costs • Analyse project profitability and support pricing decisions • Develop, implement and maintain financial policies and controls • Review Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, approval processes, aged receivables, revenue recognition and billing processes • Oversee GST treatment and support BAS, PAYG, payroll, superannuation, company-tax, year-end accounts and audit/accountant requirements • Liaise with external accountants, tax advisers and other professional advisers • Monitor working capital, debtor ageing, collection performance, supplier payment terms and customer credit exposure • Maintain and improve financial processes and reporting systems • Improve reporting automation and integration between accounting, billing, payroll and operational systems • Improve financial data quality and reduce manual spreadsheets and repetitive processes • Translate financial data into practical recommendations for business owners and senior management

🎯 Requirements

• Previous experience as a Management Accountant, Commercial Accountant, Finance Manager or similar role • Previous experience working for an Australian business is mandatory • Practical understanding of Australian accounting and taxation requirements, including GST, BAS, PAYG, payroll, superannuation and company tax • Previous experience working within an MSP or IT services business is mandatory • Strong cash-flow forecasting experience • Strong budgeting and financial forecasting experience • Experience preparing monthly management accounts and management reports • Strong financial-control and balance-sheet reconciliation experience • Advanced or strong Microsoft Excel skills • Experience using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks or equivalent • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities • High attention to detail • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial managers and business owners • Experience with recurring monthly contracts, managed-service agreements, professional services/project revenue, customer profitability, resource and labour utilisation, employee and contractor costs, software and cloud licensing costs, hardware procurement and resale, vendor and distributor costs, recurring customer billing, contract margins and gross-profit analysis • Experience with MSP platforms or PSA systems such as ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA or similar highly regarded • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline preferred • CPA Australia, CA ANZ, CIMA or equivalent qualification, or currently working towards one, preferred
