📋 Description

• Coordinate and schedule orthopedic surgical procedures across multiple surgeons, operating rooms, and surgical centers • Align surgeon availability, facility block times, and patient schedules to optimize operating room efficiency • Input and maintain accurate surgical cases, pre-op visits, and post-op follow-up appointments in AthenaHealth • Identify insurance requirements and initiate prior authorizations for orthopedic procedures • Submit clinical notes, diagnostic imaging reports, and conservative treatment history to payers for timely approvals • Track authorization statuses, schedule peer-to-peer reviews, and resolve authorization denials or peer requests • Ensure required pre-testing and clearances are ordered, completed, and received before surgery • Verify pre-operative clearance documentation is uploaded into AthenaHealth and delivered to the surgical facility • Educate patients on pre-operative instructions, medication holds, and facility arrival protocols • Serve as the main point of contact for patients preparing for orthopedic surgery • Communicate with hospital/ASC scheduling departments, surgical representatives, and practice physicians about case readiness

🎯 Requirements

• AthenaHealth EMR experience is required, including comfort navigating scheduling, clinical charts, and authorization tracking within AthenaHealth • Hands-on surgical coordination experience in Orthopedics, including understanding of joint replacements, sports medicine, spine, or fracture care workflows • Proven experience handling complex surgical prior authorizations and tracking pre-operative clearance/testing requirements • Clear, professional written and verbal English communication skills • Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple surgical cases simultaneously without missing critical deadlines
