• Torc is looking for a Principal Engineering to join a team responsible for defining, tracking, and steering the safety of our autonomous driving product • This team provides a central role in the product development process by developing and tracking safety cases for major releases • Measurability is emphasized as the first step to safety, with a focus on driving explicit measurability and quantification of safety • The role involves collaborating with various teams within the company to develop insights and actionable solutions • The position includes mentoring other team members and collaborating with other principal engineers for optimal solutions
• BS+ 20+ years of experience, MS+ 10+ years of experience, or PHD+ 7+ years of experience • Advanced degree in statistics, applied mathematics, operations research, or actuarial science • Proficiency in statistical data analyses such as sampling design, reliability, demonstration testing, accelerated validation testing plans, analysis of variance, time series analysis, Weibull analysis • 5+ years of experience with System Performance Analysis for a HW/SW system • 3 + years of experience in applied statistical analysis • 3+ years with quantitative risk management methods • Proficiency in one or more data mining / predictive modeling tools such as Python and R as well as proficiency in SQL • Experience using various methods to analyze text/unstructured data • Ability to effectively communicate results and methodologies • Strong work ethic, drive for results, and ability to work in an ambiguous workspace • Open to occasional travel to offices/test facilities • Bonus points: Domain Knowhow of autonomous or Driver Assistance, incl. multimodal sensor configuration • Understanding of vehicle safety technologies including design intent, function and intended performance in the field • Experience with designing and developing system and software in accordance with quality, functional safety and security standards (ASPICE, ISO 262626, ISO/SAE 21434)
