• Learn and build expertise in Airflow and data engineering, Kubernetes, and cloud engineering • Solve challenging Apache Airflow problems for customers, from configuration optimization to identifying Airflow bugs • Spend up to 20% of time on side projects contributing to Astronomer’s success, including open-source Airflow contributions and internal monitoring and alerting systems • Work on Astronomer’s modern, cloud-native managed Airflow product • Work directly with customers’ data engineers, system administrators, DevOps teams, and management • Provide feedback that can shape the direction of the Airflow project • Own the customer experience by prioritizing and solving issues, meeting SLAs, and providing white-glove production guidance • Participate remotely within a fully distributed team • Help maintain 24x7 coverage through a specified 6-hour pager period during the work day • Participate in paid on-call rotation for weekend coverage • Gain exposure to product, engineering, customer relationship management, and related areas
• Data Engineering background • 4 years of experience with Python • 1 year of experience in Airflow administration and DAG creation • Experience with Kubernetes/Docker/Containers • Experience working with a distributed system with any major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities • Ability to work well with autonomy and independence • Strong written and verbal communication for connecting with customers over the ticketing system and Zoom • Experience mentoring junior team members • Contributions to open-source projects (bonus) • Customer Support experience (bonus) • Familiarity with SQL and PostgreSQL (bonus) • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, dbt, or similar data engineering tools (bonus) • Authorization to work in the United States is requested in the application form • Ability and willingness to participate in a mandatory in-person interview • Ability to help maintain 24x7 coverage through a specified 6-hour pager period during the work day
